Letter from the President

Hello IWC Members,

This will be one of my, now famous, illustrated letters.  So sit back, grab a cup a tea then let me know what you think.

“Artprize” is a yearly event in Grand Rapids.  This year it runs from 9/21/2011 – 10/9/2011.  My understanding is that any artist can enter any work.  Any building in a 3 square mile section of downtown that has space for artwork can choose what to display from all contributed work.  The convention centers, museums and office buildings may have hundreds of pieces displayed under one roof. All areas are open to the public.  The draw for the artists is a huge cash prize and lots of attention for their work. The winner is decided by the votes of the people that go to see the show.

On Monday I had a long awaited chance to go over and check it out.  I cannot begin to tell you what a spectacular show it was! The creativity of the human race is just boundless!!  I had such a wonderful day I recommend making an effort to go.

The artwork was as varied as it was numerous.  I would like to share what I saw. If only a little bit.  Unfortunately I did not plan on writing this letter when I went.  I took the following photo with my phone.
